CSW’s Envirothon Team C represented Delaware at the 2021 NCF Envirothon competition in July and placed 20th in the nation! Team members included Darren Wu ’21 and Shriya Boyapati ’21, seniors Joanna Tan and Amogh Baradwaj, and junior Meghna Raj Annasagaram.
Mr. Greg Darone and Mrs. Xuan Bui were co-coaches for the team.
In addition to finishing 20th overall, the team placed 5th in aquatic ecology, 10th in soils and land use, 12th in forestry, 18th in the oral presentation, 32nd in the current issue, and 38th in wildlife. See the scoresheet here.
This year’s international competition included teams from 34 states, 4 Canadian provinces, and 3 Chinese high schools. Because of the pandemic, the competition was held virtually this year, although the current issue “Water Resource Management: Local Control and Local Solutions” focused on the Ogallala aquifer in this year’s host state, Nebraska. Students tested for five hours on Monday, July 26, in areas of aquatic ecology, forestry, soils and land use, wildlife, and the current issue. On Tuesday, July 27, the team presented a 20 minute oral presentation of a proposed management plan for a problem scenario.
