Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer high school students the opportunity to demonstrate college level achievement. Advanced Placement exams are national tests, which are graded on a scale from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest possible grade. Many colleges and universities allow students who have received a score of 3 or above to waive certain introductory courses and to apply those credits toward their degrees.
